Halt, Buzas & Powell (HB&P)

Challenge:

Founded in 1969, Halt, Buzas & Powell, Ltd. (HB&P) is a full-service Washington-area CPA firm. While HB&P had a strong presence in the region, it wanted to become even more visible in order to attract new and larger organizations as clients. HB&P decided to focus part of its growth in the nonprofit sector, as the firm provides software and training especially for associations. As the company grew, HB&P recognized the need to increase recruitment efforts, boost public relations initiatives and revamp its collateral materials.

Solution:

LFS applied its L.E.A.P. methodology to focus, unify and refine HB&P’s image and messaging. After the branding and identity development process, HB&P achieved new clarity on the direction it wanted to take and immediately rewrote its mission statement.

Since that time, LFS has served as an extension of HB&P’s marcomm staff, providing day-to-day marketing communications and public relations support as well as Web site hosting and maintenance. LFS has developed an expansive portfolio of items to reflect HB&P’s new mission, message and image — and to help anchor the company’s reputation as a leading DC-area CPA firm. This includes a new logo, stationery, collateral materials, recruitment pieces as well as a brand new Web site. LFS has also provided ongoing media relations counsel and PR support, working with HP&B to heighten its corporate and executive visibility.

Result:

HB&P has experienced significant growth over the past several past years and now boasts two locations in the Washington metropolitan region. With a solid reputation for excellence, the company continues to garner accolades in the news media. In May 2006, HB&P was recognized as one of the best places to work in greater Washington by the Washington Business Journal; in July 2006, Managing Partner Steven Halt was voted one of the leading CPAs in the region by Washington SmartCEO magazine.
