The Medical Care for Children Partnership (MCCP) is a public/private partnership organization dedicated to providing comprehensive medical and dental care coverage to the children of Fairfax County’s "working poor"--those who are ineligible for Medicaid yet cannot afford private health insurance. These 19,000 uninsured children in Fairfax County rely on the contributions of corporate and private citizens for providing these critical services. Each year, MCCP holds a major fundraiser to generate awareness and raise the majority of these necessary funds. MCCP needed help finding new ways to generate event revenue and maximize efficiencies regarding event planning and logistics. With the ultimate goal of netting $300,000 and bringing in approximately 500 people to the gala, MCCP needed to elevate its outreach efforts to potential sponsors far beyond past efforts.
LFS developed an event strategy plan for MCCP to use in evaluating their event goals and objectives, target markets, and outreach activities. This plan included the detailed steps necessary to ensure that all planning is carried out within the appropriate timeframe and critical event elements are addressed. Elements that were addressed in the plan included:
- Venue selection
- Entertainment selection
- Theme selection
- Committee members selection
- Key messages/talking points
- Speakers/emcee selection
- Awareness plan execution
- Auction selection
- Evaluation criteria establishment
- Hispanic outreach
MCCP was so pleased with the event plan that they requested LFS now execute the strategy outlined in the plan. LFS has begun researching expanded target markets for the event and theme development is underway. LFS will be managing the event timeline and providing weekly update reports to MCCP. When the event is held in the spring of 2008, LFS will support MCCP’s on-site and follow-up efforts as well.
