MetroMath: The Center for Mathematics in America’s Cities is focused on improving mathematics education in urban schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. The Center is a new organization, and is developing leaders who will implement effective, research-based strategies, and leverage existing resources in urban communities to help children learn. The MetroMath Web site needed to convey their mission and the services they offer, and to be a key resource for the community of urban mathematics educators and researchers (and other persons interested in urban math education).
LeapFrog Solutions created a Web site that incorporates a newly established brand identity. It is a robust source of information about the MetroMath Center that attracts the users the Center serves. It highlights the research/whitepaper “mindshare” generating capabilities of the Center and facilitates the dissemination of information, particularly through press releases and downloadable forms. It provides a separate private workspace for Center Faculty that includes a working e-library to which documents are posted on an ongoing basis, a scheduling tool, and a chat/discussion area.
Information about all activities of the Center is easy to find, along with contact information, center publications, brochures and program applications. It also serves as a resource for Center faculty and students to share information, via a private intranet available by password only. Visitors to the Web site can immediately understand the nature of the Center’s work, the importance of its mission, and the range of work going on at the center. It provides an ongoing view of the emerging center research agenda.
