National Frog Month: Why You Should Celebrate!

I’ll admit that I was a little surprised to learn that April is National Frog Month. At first I didn’t believe it. And to make sure my coworkers weren’t pranking me for April Fool’s, I immediately went to Google to get the real truth. (If it’s online, it must be true, right?)

It is true — and there are lots of groups promoting different ways to celebrate National Frog Month, from frog education, to frog preservation and advocacy, to kids’ activities.

As totems, frogs symbolize transition — that leap from one thing to another. Frogs have been our evolutionary companions, and people across time have gestured to them as figures of positivity. Green itself is the color of balance and harmony, as well as stability and endurance.

It’s no secret that here at LFS, frogs are our spirit animal. Their unique transformation from tadpoles to froglets to toads is an amazing metamorphosis — one not unlike LeapFrog Solutions’ own transformation over the nearly 20 years we’ve been in business. From our initial birth in Founder and CEO Lisa Martin’s basement in 1996, to our penultimate jump to a office space in 2001, to our final leap into our current pond — located within the first LEED Gold–certified building in the area — we’ve evolved to become a trusted source for commercial businesses and federal agencies seeking a full spectrum of award-winning creative and communications solutions.

I am sure most of you have never even remotely considered celebrating the frog, have you? But take a moment to think about your own transformation. You could have made a daring leap toward something you’ve been hoping to accomplish. Or maybe your work has transformed into something more meaningful. Or perhaps you’ve balanced the things you have to do with the things you love to do. No matter your personal transformation, the frog — a symbol of progression and harmony — should be celebrated.

We’d love to hear how you plan to celebrate the frog this April. Continue to leap forward, evolve, and grow. Happy National Frog Month!
